Wednesday, December 30, 2009 RunVermont Announces the “Miles for a Mission” Charity Partners
BURLINGTON—RunVermont announced the selection of thirteen charities as partners for the organization’s new Miles for a Mission Program. Miles for a Mission was created to help local charities raise financial support through the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon & Relay. The program hopes to strengthen ties between the running community and Vermont charities. “We have high expectations for the program,” said Jen Savas, registration director for RunVermont and the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon, “the Marathon has enjoyed great community support for years and this is a great way for us to give back.”
The awardees, which include both local chapters of national organizations as well as local nonprofits, were selected with consideration to the impact the work of the organization has on the Vermont community, and the thoughtful plan for the best use of the marathon and/or relay slots to raise awareness and support for the organization.
“March of Dimes, Runners for Babies is excited about participating in the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon for the third year in a row,” said Roger Clapp, State Director of the Vermont Chapter for the March of Dimes, “We are especially proud to be a charity partner for the new Miles for a Mission program. So far we already have 45 runners signed up with a combined goal of over $15,000! “
Runners have the opportunity to learn more about, donate to or run for a Miles for a Mission partner when they register for the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon and Relay.
