Friday, February 17, 2012 RunVermont explores option for second wave of Half Unplugged
Registration for the 6th Annual Half Marathon Unplugged opened on Wednesday, February 15 at 6am and closed just 15.5 hours later when the field cap of 625 participants was reached. Since closing registration, RunVermont's offices have been flooded with phone calls and emails from runners seeking entry. Regrettably, course width limits the field of this event. However, race officials are investigating options for accommodating the many runners that were unable to register. Contingent upon receiving the necessary approvals from our municipal partners, we will open a second wave for the Half Unplugged with an 11am start time. RunVermont anticipates making a formal announcement about our plans for Wave 2 on Tuesday, February 21 at noon. If we are able to move ahead with our plans for Wave 2, registration will open on Thursday, February 23 at 6am. Wave 2 will be capped at 350 participants. We will offer a transfer from Wave 1 (9am) to Wave 2 (11am) ONLY beginning March 5. If we are unable to obtain the necessary approvals, we will move ahead with the Half Unplugged without increasing the field. Please stay tuned to www.runvermont.org/blog, and our facebook and twitter pages for up-to-date information about this development.
