Thursday, April 28, 2011 23rd Annual KeyBank Vermont City Marathon Sells Out
Registration for the 23rd Annual KeyBank Vermont City Marathon opened on November 1, 2010 and closed five months and 27 days later on April 28, 2011 when the cap of 3600 marathoners was reached. The race reached capacity faster this year than it has since 2006 when it filled in 5 months, 20 days. In total, over 8000 runners (marathon and relay participants) will participate in the 2011 event.
Several of charity partners do have marathon registrations available to runners interested in fundraising on their behalf. Specifically, marathon slots are available through the following Miles for a Mission Partners: - American Cancer Society,$800 fundraising commitment, contact Kate Kerrigan
- Ronald McDonald House, $500 fundraising commitment, contact Pam Fenimore
- Team in Training, $2000 fundraising commitment, contact Gail Deuso
- Team Hole in the Wall,$1000 fundraising commitment, contact Pete McBrid
The RunVermont staff encourages anyone unable to run in this year's event to consider volunteering. A wide range of opportunities are available; from filling and handing out race packets to selling KBVCM merchandise, answering runner and spectator questions, directing traffic and distributing medals at the finish line, there is a job for everyone! All volunteers receive an official volunteer t-shirt AND are entered in a raffle to win a one night stay at Stowe Mountain Lodge with greens fees and a cart for 2 at the very exclusive Stowe Mountain Golf Club.
