Wednesday, December 1, 2010 KeyBank Vermont City Marathon Training Classes now open!
This year RunVermont will offer three different classes to help runners prepare to do their best in the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon. Students in Marathon 101 will spend 17-weeks course focusing on training schedules, nutrition, strength training, proper shoe analysis, mental toughness and more. Marathon 101 begins February 2, 2011 and is limited to 25 participants.
For seasoned marathoners, we offer Marathon 201, taught by athlete Sam Davis. Sam offers tools for increasing your marathon IQ, including: how to improve your training schedule, race strategies, mental toughness, injury prevention and treatment and how to get faster without getting burned out. Marathon 201 begins January 31, 2011 and is limited to 25 participants.
New this year, Sam will also teach Half Marathon 201. This course is geared toward preparing for the two-person relay by helping to improve your training and performance. This 9-week educational course offers many of the same elements as Marathon 201, but is specifically geared toward the half marathon distance. Half Marathon 201 begins January 24, 2011 and is limited to 25 participants.
Jess Cover will lead Marathon 101. Jessica has been running competitively for over 12 years and has completed 18 marathons with a PR of 3:05.05. This includes seven KeyBank Vermont City Marathons. Jessica is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer at On Track Health & Fitness, she coaches the South Burlington Girls' Cross Country Team, serves as President of the Green Mountain Athletic Association and is a running coach for adults of all running abilities.
Sam Davis will lead Marathon 201 and Half Marathon 201. Sam has been running competitively for over 35 years. He has completed over 23 marathons, including four KeyBank Vermont Marathons, with a PR of 2:32. Sam is a USA Track & Field certified coach and provides consultation for runners of all ages and abilities.
