"I am still in awe of your volunteer ratio; 8000 runners with 1700 volunteers, this is unheard of - it was so perfect"
The KeyBank Vermont City Marathon: A Team Sport
Much has been said about the “loneliness of the long distance runner,” but from my perspective, marathoning is a team sport. The KeyBank Vermont City Marathon requires the services of a few hundred public safety employees, several municipal service agencies and the volunteer participation of over 1700 people, of all ages, from across Vermont and New England. This weekend is a wonderful confluence of energy for a cast of thousands.
I have great confidence in the RunVermont staff, and our entire team, as we welcome all runners and spectators for a weekend of inspiration and aspiration. Some 8000 athletes will enjoy our beautiful course, cheered on by thousands more. For some, personal dreams will be realized, or even exceeded this weekend. For others, those dreams might still be elusive. But all those hours of training are about to pay off; you’re going to have a great time, and we’ll be cheering you on, every step of the way.
Finally, to all who run, thanks for choosing the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon, I hope your experience will bring you back. For my marathon teammates, you rock, thanks for helping make dreams come true!
