Run for a Cause:

"I am still in awe of your volunteer ratio; 8000 runners with 1700 volunteers, this is unheard of - it was so perfect"

Overview RunVermont's Miles for a Missions program was created in 2009 to help local charities raise financial support through the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon and Relay. This program was designed to strengthen ties between the running community and Vermont charities.
Each year, RunVermont staff and an outside committee carefully review applications to the Miles for a Mission program. A diverse group of organizations is chosen, a large percentage of which have a local presence or provide services to the Vermont community. The awardees are selected with consideration to the impact the work of the organization and the thoughtful plan for the best use of the marathon and/or relay slots to raise awareness and support. A total of 50 2-person relay team and 50 3-5 person relay team slots among the 13 charities are awarded. There is currently no limit on the number of marathon slots.
Each charity is responsible for overseeing its own fundraising campaign; the total amount of money raised relates directly to the efforts of the charity. The organization is responsible for the registration fees of the slots, regardless of implementation. Following the event, all charities are responsible for submitting an event report to share the results of their fundraising efforts. This report is required before reapplying for the following year's event.
Miles for a Mission official charities benefit by having guaranteed relay slots, thereby allowing them to bypass the lottery process in January. Every organization is featured in a RunVermont newsletter prior to the event. The KeyBank Vermont City Marathon and Relay online application has a dropdown menu allowing runners to choose to learn about, run for or donate to each of the charities.

Online fundraising platform for your charitable life We partner with Edward Norton’s fundraising site Crowdrise to create a landing page for our philanthropic efforts. Crowdrise makes fundraising incredibly fun and easy. Our goal for KBVCM is to create an online fundraising community where we can measure our charitable impact and make giving back even more meaningful. We encourage every runner, volunteer, sponsor and fan to participate and help us raise more money than ever thought possible.

Gray Matters - The Wendy J. Pierson Foundation Brain cancer is the leading solid tumor cancer killer of children under the age of 20, the second leading cause of cancer deaths in adult males and the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in adult females, ages 20-39. Sadly, treatments have seen little progress in the last 25 years, largely due to gross under funding of research. It is for these reasons that the Wendy J. Pierson Foundation for Brain Cancer Research was formed. It is the mission of the Wendy J. Pierson Foundation for Brain Cancer Research to greatly increase public awareness of brain cancer. Our goal is to identify the most promising research projects going on today and raise much needed and long overdue funds in support of that research. We look to you for support in this grassroots movement so that we may help ensure that there is hope for every diagnosis. Thank you for your consideration and support. GRAY MATTERS!
